Has anyone else noticed that, when doing eye exercises, their vision clearer u sunlight than indoors? Well this is not a problem with your eyesight, rather, you are experiencing natural vision!
There is a very simple explanation to why vision us clearer in sunlight and the answer can be found in the anatomy of the eye. The back of the eye is made of of millions of cells that convert the light rays into electrical signals, which are then sent to the brain as images allowing us to see.
The cone cells are responsible for sending clear crisp colorful images. These cone cells desire maximum amount of light in order to function at its best and for you to see clearer.
We can explain this visual process by using solar panels as an analogy. As the light comes into contact with the solar panel, the light is converted into electricity which is then taken to a place to be stored or used immediately. If there is not much sunlight, then we get less energy and power.
There is another part of the eye that assists in helping us to see clearer and that is the pupil. As the pupil constricts to reduce the amount of light entering the eye it, focuses the image on the fovea, which is the located in the macula. This makes up only 1% of the retina and is responsible for seeing the most detail. This makes the image crisper and clearer for us to see!
Perhaps you can see now why we don’t love sunglasses!
Good Luck with your eye exercises this week and happy healing!
